Recently an application came through that was too casual for my client. I knew the style of their work would not resonate.
So we declined them for the role.
A few weeks later, that same person applied for a similar role with a totally different client.
This time, the hiring manager said, “Something about this person’s writing is just really standing out to me. Let’s talk to them.”
What changed about the candidate? Nothing. There is just a lid for every pot.
When people are declined for roles, it’s not always an indictment of their talents or skills. Sometimes it’s really just not the right place.
