Interviewer: Why are you looking?
Every candidate: Am looking for growth!
Fast forward to employment and… they hate change and can’t take constructive feedback. Because when they said “growth” they meant “praise".
Sigh, we’ve all been there.
A few interview questions targeted to a true growth mindset:
Knowing what you know now about (project they just described), what would you do differently next time?
What news/sources/tools do you use to keep up on trends specific to (role)? How about outside of your role?
What’s the difference between a good (role) and an exceptional (role)?
Listen for the *intention* to learn something vs. having actually taken initiative to learn it. It does not count to consider maybe, someday doing something…
